JAC ATR 42-600 delivery ceremony in Kagoshima
The first ATR 42-600 delivery to Japan Airlines’ subsidiary JAC
On Friday 10 March, Japan Air Commuter's delivery ceremony for the ATR 42-600 was held in Kagoshima. This event was organised by JAC, a member of the Japan Airlines Group, to celebrate the delivery of the first of nine ATR 42-600 in their fleet. Our company was represented by Head of Sales John Moore from ATR HQ plus Jean-Pierre Stainnack. Jiro Koda from Airbus Japan and Kodai Iwasaki from ATR Japan were also present.
The ceremony began with a speech from JAC CEO and was followed by speeches from the guests (local government and JCAB) as well as John Moore, before an introduction of the ATR aircraft with ATR’s special video and a presentation of a model plane to the design school that developed the special livery for JAC'S ATR 42-600s.
During his speech, John declared: “It is an honor for ATR to be adding Japan Airlines, one of the world’s leading airlines, to the list of more than 200 operators worldwide. This delivery represents the culmination of a tremendous amount of work and dedication by so many people in ATR. We can be really proud of this moment and look forward to further success in Japan”.
The Japanese market is very promising and represents a good potential for further development and growth, making the event an important milestone for ATR. With JAC currently undertaking a fleet modernisation process, it’s an example of the older turboprops and small jet fleets being replaced with the modern “EcoProp Jet” aircraft. The “EcoProp Jet” is a specific brand developed for Japan to evoke the image as a modern and comfortable aircraft with the latest technology, that provides the most economic and eco-friendly solution.
